The keys are fantastic, they feel sturdy and feel very tactile to play. Its not that indepth unless you create your own macros, which defeats the purpose of buying a "smart" controller, or use NI stuff, which is made for M&Kb anyway so its just easier to edit stuff with that. So that's another knock against it.ģ.) The whole "control patches on the fly" thing is just a gimmick. It doesn't support the protocol that allows you to send data to a DAW using it, though NI said that is coming. If you don't use Ableton or Logic you're gonna have to jump through hoops to get the thing up and running. And after getting on the UVI train with falcon and their sample packs any hope of using half the features are just dead to me.Ģ.) If you don't use a DAW they support you're gonna have a bad time. If you dont use NI stuff half the controller is just dead and it becomes pretty cumbersome to try and set up your own stuff.
After using it for a week I was over that. I liked how the controller seemed to just work with the maschine, reaktor, kontakt.
When I got the keyboard I was ready to go all in on the NI ecosystem. I've had the A61 since may, and I like it but it comes with a few catches.ġ.) Its heavily dependent on whether or not you use NKS supported software or are in the NI environment.
